QR Code Error Correction Levels (L/M/Q/H)
Error correction controls how much data the QR can recover if it is scratched, blurred, or partly blocked. Higher levels improve resilience but also make the code denser.
- Level L (Low): recovers up to ~7% of data; smallest QR, best when printing/scanning quality is high.
- Level M (Medium): recovers up to ~15% of data; good default for most cases.
- Level Q (Quartile): recovers up to ~25% of data; helpful if codes may get slightly damaged.
- Level H (High): recovers up to ~30% of data; best when you expect damage or add a center logo (but produces a denser QR).
Higher error correction increases redundancy, which can make the QR larger/denser.
